Issues of customs cooperation between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and the People’s Republic of China were considered at a meeting of the Working group at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission. It was attended by representatives of the customs block of the Commission and authorized bodies of the Union countries.

The development of a single methodology (mechanism) for assessing the effectiveness of customs activities on a global scale, in our opinion, is of interest to the analytical departments of customs authorities and the scientific community. Previously, we conducted a separate study and described the approaches of the World Customs Organization (WCO), the EU, as well as our vision of such a methodology within the framework of assessing the level of development of customs regulation in the Eurasian Economic Union (see Mozer Sergei. WCO CONFERENCE. CUSTOMS INSIDE ANYWHERE, INSIGHTS EVERYWHERE. PRESENTATION OF CUSTOMS OF THE NETHERLANDS

In the period from October 18 to 20, 2022, a conference of the World Customs Organization was held in Maastricht, the Netherlands, under the theme “Driving Customs performance with data and technology in the changing landscape of global trade”. The Technology Conference was aimed at exploring technology-supported solutions enabling Customs to operate in a fully digital environment and create an operating model that captures and exploits data from across the trade ecosystem.

COMPENDIUM “NON-TARIFF MEASURES from A to Z”
United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has published compendium «NON-TARIFF MEASURES from A to Z».
This compendium provides an overview of global transparency efforts, including with regard to the international classification of NTMs, data collection and data dissemination, as well as approaches to achieving good regulations, including recent research results and analysis tools, social implications such as gender-related and environmental effects, a toolkit to assess cost effectiveness and NTMs and the online academy on NTMs. Each chapter provides highlights from the work of UNCTAD and references for further reading.

On June 6-8, 2023 the conference is jointly organized by the WCO and the UPU, hosted by the Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan Customs and Japan Post, under the theme “Challenges and opportunities for cross-border e-commerce through Customs and Postal cooperation” as a first significant and symbolic step under the new Agreement. Japan has also shared its willingness to host the event to contribute to promoting cooperation between Customs and Designated Operators (DOs) at international and national levels.
