It was discussed the implementation of paragraph 11.7.5 of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategic Directions for the Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025 at the meeting. The experts considered the prospects for further cooperation with the WCO in terms of implementing joint actions with the states of the Eurasian Economic Union aimed at obtaining the status of a member of the WCO by the Union, as well as exploring the possibility of joining the EAEU to the basic WCO legal instruments.
“The EEC Customs Cooperation Block is actively interacting with the WCO and will continue cooperation in such areas as improving customs legislation based on international standards, developing effective and modern customs regulation standards, and introducing best practices in customs administration,” noted Eldar Alisherov.
According to the minister, such work is relevant as part of the modernization of Union law in the field of customs regulation, taking into account the provisions of the Strategic Directions for the Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025, as well as the Main Directions of International Activities of the Eurasian Economic Union in terms of organizing customs cooperation.
Note: Clause 11.7.5. of the Strategic Directions for the Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025, approved by the Decision of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on December 11, 2020 № 12, provides for such measures as the Union obtaining member status in the WCO, and exploring the possibility of the Union joining the WCO fundamental instruments.
