The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) discussed legal and organizational approaches to develop cooperation with the World Customs Organization (WCO).
The meeting of the relevant EEC Working group was attended by representatives of the customs cooperation block of the Commission and authorized bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries, whose competence is to improve customs regulation. The members of the Working group considered a set of measures necessary for the implementation of the Strategic Directions for the Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025 in terms of interaction with the WCO.
The Commission has developed a draft concept document that contains organizational and legal measures to organize the systemic work of the Commission and the Union countries as part of the functioning of the Working group on interaction with the WCO, aimed at obtaining the Union membership in the WCO and joining its fundamental instruments and tools.
The development of cooperation between the Union and the WCO is an important aspect of the implementation of the Strategic Directions, as well as the EAEU Main Directions for the International Activities, and has a positive effect on the modernization of law in the field of customs regulation.
