The second day of the Moscow International Model of the WCO began with an analysis of the current situation in the field of regulation of international trade and security, considered in the format of lectures of Russian and foreign experts and practitioners.
At the invitation of Mr. Ruslan Davydov, First Deputy Head of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation, acting in his capacity as Vice-Chair of the WCO Europe region, WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya attended the Europe Region Heads of Customs Conference in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, on 25 and 26 April 2019.
Russian Customs Academy (April 18, 2019)
On April 18, 2019 a discussion-lecture was held on the topic «Development of the WCO digital customs institution in the framework of international customs cooperation». The event was organized for students of the Customs Faculty of the Russian Customs Academy in the field of study «International cooperation of customs administrations». The lecture was held by Sergei Mozer, Deputy Head of Division of Advanced Customs Technologies, Department of Customs Legislation of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC, Commission).

On April 11 and 12, the II All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Economic Strategies of the EAEU: Problems and Innovations” was held at the Russian University of Peoples’ Friendship. The event was devoted to the economic development of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) Member states, the deepening of integration processes. Special attention was paid to the role of the customs authorities in the economic strategies of the EEU.
The WCO conducted between 25 and 27 March a Workshop for Officials of Montenegro Customs on Customs valuation and the use of a valuation database as a risk assessment tool.
The World Customs Organization (WCO), in cooperation with the Russia Federal Customs, organized a Sub-regional Workshop on Time Release Study (TRS) for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Members from 1 to 5 April 2019, in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
On April 3rd, 2019 at the Economic Faculty of the Russian University of Peoples Friendship a round table was held with the participation of a specialist of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) on the theme “Developing the professional skills necessary to work in an international organization”.
At the invitation of General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC), the WCO participated in the inaugural ceremony of the WCO Asia-Pacific Regional Training Centre in Xiamen on 19 March, 2019.
The WCO, in cooperation with the Hungarian National Tax and Customs Authority (NTCA) and with the financial support of the Korea Customs Cooperation Fund (CCF Korea), organized a regional workshop on cross-border E-Commerce for the Europe region from 26 to 29 March 2019 at the Regional Training Centre in Budapest, Hungary.
Customs officials from 18 Middle East and North of Africa (MENA) Region countries met in Muscat, Oman from 24 to 28 March 2019, to discuss the capacity building needs and share knowledge and experience with regard to the modernisation initiatives of Customs administrations.
