The Seventh Meeting of the Working Group on the Comprehensive Review of the Revised Kyoto Convention (WGRKC) was held from 9 to -13 December 2019 at the WCO Headquarters in Brussels, with the attendance of 42 delegates from 19 Member Customs administrations and 7 external stakeholders.

WCO addresses Working Party on Customs Union under Croatia’s EU Council Presidency
At the invitation of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU), WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya attended a meeting of the EU Working Party on Customs Union (Customs Union Group – CUG), held on 10 January 2020 in Brussels, Belgium to present the WCO’s outlook for 2020.
The new 2022 Edition of the Harmonized System has been accepted
HS 2022, which is the seventh edition of the Harmonized System (HS) nomenclature used for the uniform classification of goods traded internationally all over the world, has been accepted by the all Contracting Parties to the Harmonized System Convention. It shall come into force on 1 January 2022.

Russian Customs Academy
On November 26, 2019 a lecture-discussion was organized at the Russian Customs Academy for students of the Customs Faculty* on the topic «Activities of the World Customs Organization in the field of modern Information and Communication Technologies». The Revised Kyoto Convention Management Committee (RKC/MC) holds its 21st Meeting on 18 – 20 November 2019
The 21st Meeting of the Revised Kyoto Convention Management Committee (RKC/MC) was held from 18 to 20 November 2019 at the WCO Headquarters in Brussels. In her opening remarks, Ms. Ana B. Hinojosa, Director of Compliance and Facilitation, welcomed the accession, since the last RKC/MC meeting held in June 2019, of Ghana and Brazil as the 119th and 120th Contracting Parties to the RKC. She also provided a brief update on the work done and progress made by the Working Group on the Comprehensive Review of the Revised Kyoto Convention (WGRKC). She further emphasized the expectation of this RKC/MC meeting to provide guidance to the WGRKC in the right direction by bringing out a more concrete RKC review process and a clearer way forward. She reminded of the important discussions held in the last RKC/MC Meeting and of the conclusions from the June 2019 Policy Commission and Council.

Kickoff Meeting of the WCO Working Group on Performance Measurement
Following the June 2019 WCO Council decision, the 14 and 15 of November marked the start of a new crucial endeavor that WCO Membership has committed to over the next two years. The 1st meeting of the newly established Working Group on Performance Measurement (WGPM) took place, setting the tone for a pivotal collective challenge aimed at the establishment of a comprehensive WCO Performance Measurement mechanism incorporating all Customs competencies for assessing and improving Customs organizational performance.

On April 11-12, the II All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference «Economic Strategies of the Eurasian Economic Union: Problems and Innovations» was held at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. The event was dedicated to issues of economic development of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) Member States, deepening integration processes. Particular attention was paid to the role of customs authorities in the economic strategies of the EEU.
