Lecture-discussion for students of the Russian Foreign Trade Academy

On July 3, 2019, students of the 2nd year of the Faculty of International Law of the Russian Foreign Trade Academy (Academy), accompanied by Ms. Mazaeva Natalia, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Ph.D. in Law, visited the Department of Customs Legislation of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

During the visit, a lecture-discussion on «Eurasian Integration and Improvement of Customs Regulations» was organized, during which students learned about the institutional aspects of the functioning of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU, Union), the role of the EEC as a permanent regulatory body of the Union, and the interaction of the customs block of the Commission with the World

Customs organization (WCO) in the field of improving the instruments of customs regulation and trade facilitation. The lecture was held by Mr. Sergei Mozer, Deputy Head of Division of Advanced Customs Technologies, Department of Customs Legislation of the Eurasian Economic Commission , PhD in Law.

The attention of students was drawn to the stages of the functioning of the EEU; the organizational structure, functions and powers of the EEC; the competence of the customs block of the Commission; mechanism and decision-making procedures in the field of customs regulation. During the lecture Mr. Mozer also highlighted current issues of international customs cooperation between the EEC and the WCO and the modernization of Union law, taking into account modern instruments and tolls of customs regulation.

The interaction of the customs block of the EEC and Academy continues for more than  4 years. Within the framework of such cooperation, students of the Academy have the

opportunity to familiarize themselves with the peculiarities of the functioning of the Eurasian Economic Commission and form a common understanding of the integration processes in the EEU. Undoubtedly, such events are a matter of interest to Russian Foreign Trade Academy, and we express our profound appreciation to Mr. Dmitry Nekrasov, Director of the Department of Customs Legislation of the Commission, Mr. Mozer Sergei, Deputy Head of Division of Advanced Customs Technologies and the EEC staff.
