On December 15, 2023, the Department of International Economic Relations of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) organized an open lecture on the topic “Current issues of improving customs regulation in the EAEU: international legal aspect.”
The lecture was given by Sergei Mozer, Deputy Head of the Division of Advanced Customs Technologies of the Department of Customs Legislation and Enforcement Practice of the Eurasian Economic Commission (Commission), Ph.D..
Listeners are master’s students specializing in “International Logistics” at the Department of International Economic Relations of the RUDN University.
During the event, Sergei Mozer spoke about the functioning of the Eurasian Economic Union and the implementation of the Strategic Directions for the Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025 (Strategic Directions). In particular, the issues of improving customs regulation within the Union, introducing advanced customs technologies into the work of modern customs, developing priority instruments for implementing the “single window” mechanism in the foreign trade regulation system, as well as developing cooperation with the World Customs
Organization (WCO) were touched upon. The lecturer focused on the practical aspects of the Commission’s work in these areas, and also touched upon the Commission’s Customs Cooperation Block Strategy.
Along with this, students became familiar with the activities of the World Customs Organization, its legal instruments and tools and their correlation with the institutions of customs law in the EAEU, prospects for the implementation of Strategic Directions in terms of the Union obtaining membership in the WCO.
As part of the discussions, the lecturer drew students’ attention to certain disciplines of the department’s curriculum, which should be given special emphasis taking into account the chosen specialization “International Logistics”, and also gave recommendations for further education and self-training.
The event aroused interest among students, and cooperation with RUDN will be continued.
