The WCO organized its first Accreditation Workshop for Technical and Operational Advisors on Customs Laboratory Matters from 23 to 27 October at the WCO Headquarters in Brussels, with the support of CCF/Japan. Twelve pre-selected candidates from the Customs Laboratories of Argentina, China, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Pakistan, Russia Federation, Sudan and Turkey participated in the programme.

18th Meeting of the SAFE Working Group drives forward the global security and facilitation agenda with tangible deliverables
The 18th meeting of the SAFE Working Group (SWG), held from 25 to 27 October 2017 at the WCO headquarters in Brussels, brought together over 125 delegates from Customs administrations, partner government agencies, the Private Sector Consultative Group (PSCG) and observer entities including international organizations.

The 217th/218th Sessions of the Permanent Technical Committee (PTC) concluded its proceedings on Friday 20 October with a list of important outputs and actions to be followed up on during the intersession.
The Private Sector Consultative Group meets at the WCO Headquarters
The Private Sector Consultative Group (PSCG) met for the 41st time on 23 and 24 October 2017 at the WCO Headquarters. The meeting was chaired by John Mein from PROCOMEX, and Mr. Jaime King from IFCBA was presented as the newly-elected Vice-Chair. The group greeted four new members: The Association of Professional Customs Brokers of the Americas (ASAPRA), Expeditors, Fédération Maritime de Côte d’ Ivoire (FEDERMAR), and the Pharmaceutical Security Institute (PSI). The meeting began with an orientation session for the new members by Ms Ana Hinojosa, WCO Director of Compliance and Facilitation.

The World Customs Organization Trade Facilitation Agreement Working Group (TFAWG) met for the eighth time from 16 to 18 October 2017 in Brussels at the WCO’s Head Quarters. The meeting included a Joint Session with the WCO Permanent Technical Committee.
WCO Working Group on ECommerce moves closer to providing new deliverables in the coming months
Close to 200 delegates attended the second meeting of the WCO Working Group on E-Commerce (WGEC), held at WCO headquarters in Brussels from 10 to 13 October 2017, with the aim of taking stock of the work done since the first meeting and moving forward in developing tools and instruments related to the management of growing cross-border transactions stemming from C-Commerce sales.
