Message from the World Customs Organization – International Customs Day 2019

Traditionally, to mark International Customs Day (ICD) each year, the WCO Secretariat dedicates a theme that is pertinent to the challenges facing the global Customs community. The slogan chosen for 2019 is “SMART borders for seamless Trade, Travel and Transport.” At a time when the number of passengers and the volume of freight crossing borders is expected to increase exponentially, and technology has transformed the economic landscape in which Customs is evolving, WCO Members are encouraged to look at how they can best ensure the swift and smooth cross-border movement of goods, people and means of transport.

Delegation of the AEB and EEC visited Porsche AG factory in Stuttgart, Germany

On December 20-21, 2018, AEB organized an official visit to Germany for a delegation of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), headed by Mukai Kadyrkulov, EEC Minister for Customs Cooperation, in order to share the best European practices in the field of customs regulation, namely, customs control, simplify customs procedures, the benefits of the status of authorized economic operator exemplified by Porsche AG.

New E-learning Course on WCO SAFE Framework of Standards

The World Customs Organization (WCO) Secretariat has released a new e-learning course on the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards. Based on the 2018 version of the SAFE, this course will give the participants a comprehensive overview of the three Pillars of the Framework and a deep understanding of underlying concepts, as well as the benefits of its implementation for Governments, Customs and the Trade community. A specific part is devoted to the concept of the Authorized Economic Operator Programme and associated processes.

WCO publishes Handbook on Data Analysis

Today, 4 December 2018, sees the publication by the WCO of a “Handbook on Data Analysis” aimed at presenting an overview of data analytics and, more specifically, what it is, how it works, and how useful it may be to Customs and other governmental agencies. 

WCO and EAC celebrate EAC Regional AEO Programme success

Back in 2014, the World Customs Organization (WCO), the East African Community (EAC) Secretariat and five Customs administrations from the EAC region (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda) embarked on a five-year partnership to support the effective design and roll-out of the EAC Regional AEO Programme.  The partnership came to be known as the WCO-EAC CREATe Project and benefitted from the generous financial support of the Government of Sweden.

S.Lozbenko, and Mozer Sergei, Deputy Head of Division of Advanced Customs Technologies, Department of Customs Legislation of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
