How to get a job in an international organization? The leading experts of the EEC have shared their experience with students of the Faculty of Economics of the Russian University of Peoples Friendship

On April 3rd, 2019 at the Economic Faculty of the Russian University of Peoples Friendship a round table was held with the participation of a specialist of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) on the theme “Developing the professional skills necessary to work in an international organization”.

Experts from the EEC – Dinara Sekerbayeva, Head of the Division of Advanced Customs Technologies, Department of Customs Legislation of the Eurasian Economic Commission (Division), and Sergei Mozer, Deputy Head of the Division, Ph.D. in law told the students of the Economics Faculty (Customs specialization) about the directions of international activities in the field of customs administration and the skills required for work in an international organization.

EEC experts shared their experience by telling them what key professional competencies are needed to work in an international organization. Thus, they noted that the ability to develop legal documents in accordance with the rules, the skill of public speaking, negotiating, knowledge of office work, ethics and psychology.

Sergei Mozer made a presentation “Formation of students’ professional skills and competencies; international legal aspect”. During the discussions, he also noted that knowledge of foreign languages ​​is a significant competitive advantage when working in an international organization. Also, a special role is played by the knowledge of national and international law, the ability to interpret and apply it in practice. At the meeting, the representative of the EEC customs bloc told about the international customs cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Union and the World Customs Organization. Students familiarized themselves with topical issues of improving customs administration in the context of the developed WCO instruments.
