Angola hosts a National Workshop on the Harmonized System and Tariff Management
A National Workshop on the Harmonized System and Tariff Management was held in Luanda, Angola, from 17 to 21 February 2020. The Workshop focused on both current issues and preparation for the implementation of the 2022 edition of the HS. The Workshop was organized jointly by the WCO and the Customs Administration of Angola (AGT), with the support of the EU-WCO Programme for HS in Africa, funded by the European Union. It was facilitated by experts from both the WCO Secretariat and the Customs Administration of Brazil. It was attended by 30 officials from all regions of Angola and the Headquarters that work on tariff classification related areas.
Good progress of Customs in East Africa towards the development of pool of PCA Trainers
Under the auspices of the WCO/JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) Joint Project, the fourth Working Group activity (WG4) of the Master Trainers Programme (MTP) on Post Clearance Audit (PCA) was held in Kampala, Uganda on 10-14 February 2020. A total of nineteen (19) customs officials from East Africa, who has been nominated as the PCA WG members got together again for this WCO/JICA joint sub-regional workshop to make another progress to achieve the ultimate objective of the MTP.
WCO shares its experience at UPU high-level forum on wider postal sector engagement
At the invitation of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), WCO Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Ricardo Treviño Chapa, participated in UPU high-level forum on wider postal sector engagement in Bern, Switzerland on 13 February 2020. The forum focused on the possibility of opening up its membership to the private sector postal stakeholders, topic which is currently debated within UPU.

On April 11-12, the II All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference «Economic Strategies of the Eurasian Economic Union: Problems and Innovations» was held at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. The event was dedicated to issues of economic development of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) Member States, deepening integration processes. Particular attention was paid to the role of customs authorities in the economic strategies of the EEU.

On November 12, 2019, the Department of Informatics and Information Customs Technologies of the Customs Faculty of the Russian Customs Academy (hereinafter – the Faculty) organized a lecture-discussion on the role of the World Customs Organization in the formation of the digital customs institute. The lecture was read by Sergei Mozer, Deputy Head of the Division of Advanced Customs Technologies of the Department of Customs Legislation of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
