Experts from the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and the Russian Export Center (REC) held a working meeting at which a wide range of issues of mutual recognition of electronic documents, regulatory and technical requirements and opportunities for organizing interaction between authorized bodies and business of the states of the Eurasian Economic Union were discussed. The experts also considered the development of infrastructure for international document exchange within the framework of the “single window” mechanism, and existing intergovernmental agreements that make it possible to organize such interaction. The event was organized by the EEC Department of Customs Legislation and Law Enforcement Practice.
The working meeting was attended by representatives of the Commission’s blocks on customs cooperation, trade, internal markets, informatization, and information and communication technologies.
The Commission, at its negotiating platforms, actively discusses the implementation of advanced digital technologies, including the exchange of electronic documents between government regulators and businesses of the Union countries in order to improve customs regulation and trade facilitation.
The solution to the prospects for the introduction of modern technologies voiced during the working meeting requires the progressive implementation of the Union’s digital agenda, the modernization of law in the field of customs administration, as well as the technical and technological readiness of the Union countries for effective interaction.
