In the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), under the chairmanship of the EEC Minister for Trade Andrey Slepnev, the first meeting of the Program Committee for the preparation of the II Eurasian Economic Forum, which this year will be held under the motto “Eurasian integration in a multipolar world”, was held.
The event, in the plenary session of which the heads of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union will take part, is scheduled for May 24-25 on the eve of the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. According to the EEC regulations, the Eurasian Economic Forum is held annually in the country chairing the EAEU, that is, this year it will be held in the Russian Federation.
At the meeting of the Program Committee, representatives of authorized departments and businesses of the EAEU countries, as well as structural divisions of the EEC, discussed the general concept and preliminary content of the forum, possible topics for panel sessions and holding events on its “fields”.
Based on the forum’s focus on positioning the Union in the modern world, thematic sessions and dialogue events will touch upon the most pressing topics on the international agenda – the worldview foundations of modern Eurasianism, the strategic objectives of the EAEU for decades to come, digital transformation, climate challenges and the Union’s consolidated response, energy and food security, relationships with the countries of the SCO, BRICS, ASEAN, the states of Africa and the Arab East.
