The Philippine Bureau of Customs will host the 2016 WCO PICARD Conference

wcoThe World Customs Organization is pleased to announce that the Philippine Bureau of Customs will host the 2016 WCO Partnership in Customs Academic Research and Development (PICARD) Conference.

The PICARD Conference has positively impacted the work of Customs since 2006, providing a platform for dynamic dialogue between Customs administrations, universities, and research institutes on topics relevant to Customs and international trade.

“I am very pleased that Philippine Customs will host the 11th WCO PICARD Conference,” said WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya. “This event continues to go from strength to strength, and 2016 will be the next step on this rising path.”

For his part, Philippines Customs Commissioner Alberto D. Lina said, “The WCO PICARD Conference has a rich tradition of communicating vital, interesting and relevant information on research and development in the Customs context.” He added: “We look forward to welcoming Customs officers, academics, researchers, and the business sector to our country for this important event.”

The Conference is likely to take place in late September or early October 2016 and its precise timing will be confirmed later.

As for the previous editions, the Conference agenda will be developed around specific topics and a Call for Papers.
