COVID-19: WCO Secretariat shares guidance with Customs on efficient communication strategies during a crisis

In view of the global health emergency situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Customs Organization (WCO) Secretariat has published a “WCO Guidance on how to communicate during a crisis” to assist its Members in reacting to communication challenges posed by the global crisis. The document has been published on the WCO’s COVID-19 dedicated webpage and Members and partners are invited to share any best practices in this specific area to further enhance the document.

As part of the agreements between the heads of the Russian Customs Academy and the customs block of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC, Commission), on March 17, 2020, Mozer Sergei, Ph.D., Deputy Head of Division of Advanced Customs Technologies, Department of Customs Legislation hold a lecture for students of the Customs faculty on the topics «Institutional aspects of the World Customs Organization» (WCO) and «Analysis of the WCO customs instruments and tools».

Angola hosts a National Workshop on the Harmonized System and Tariff Management

A National Workshop on the Harmonized System and Tariff Management was held in Luanda, Angola, from 17 to 21 February 2020.  The Workshop focused on both current issues and preparation for the implementation of the 2022 edition of the HS.  The Workshop was organized jointly by the WCO and the Customs Administration of Angola (AGT), with the support of the EU-WCO Programme for HS in Africa, funded by the European Union.  It was facilitated by experts from both the WCO Secretariat and the Customs Administration of Brazil.  It was attended by 30 officials from all regions of Angola and the Headquarters that work on tariff classification related areas.

12th TFAWG: “WTO’s first-born agreement is now steady on its feet”

The WCO Trade Facilitation Agreement Working Group (TFAWG) met for the 12th time on 4 and 5 March 2020 in Brussels at the WCO’s Headquarters. The meeting included a Joint Session with the Capacity Building Committee (CBC). Delegates, representing Customs, other Border Agencies and Trade Ministries from WCO Members, Observers from several International Organizations, the Private Sector and Academia participated in the event. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. L. Satya Srinivas (India).
